What we send

Everything that leaves your machine, in the order you would meet it.

The same list the game shows you once, the first time you enter a Fragment, in the same order, repeated here so it can be read before you install anything. The privacy policy is the formal version.

To run the shared world at all

Your Minecraft name and account identifier, which world you are in, which regions you are holding, and how to reach your peers. This is the service: without it there is no shared world, and no setting turns it off while leaving the world working.

Game traffic goes between the players directly wherever it can. We introduce you to each other and keep track of who holds which ground. We do not carry your world.

Automatically, in the background

Update check
Which build you run and which channel it came from, so we can answer whether a newer one exists.
Live map
Once a second: your position, which way you are facing, your dimension, your name, and the chat you send. Only in worlds where map sharing is on, and we apply that world’s consent settings before anybody else sees any of it.

Only when you ask for it

  • A bug report or suggestion. What you typed, plus your mod version, your operating system and where you were standing.
  • A shared log. /vbf log share sends the last five megabytes of your latest log, with credentials scrubbed out of it.
  • A crash report. Offered on the title screen after a crash. It carries file paths, your mod list and system details.

Never

  • Other players’ names, positions or chat.
  • Anything outside your game folder.
  • Anything not on this page.

Turning it off

VBF_PHONE_HOME=off stops everything above except the shared world itself, including the update check, the live map and the crash prompt. The mod does not argue with it and does not ask again.

Where the setting goes

It is an environment variable, set the way your launcher sets those: in the instance’s environment settings, or in the shell you start the game from. It applies to that installation.

What is kept, and getting rid of it

Take a copy
/vbf data export in the game, or Download a copy on the account page. One file, everything held against you, never the credentials themselves.
Delete it
The account page deletes everything immediately, with no waiting period and no undo. See your account.
If you never made an account
You can still have your data erased. Ask the host of the world you played in, or write to us from any address.
